From the inhabitants of Goose Pond Forest

From the inhabitants of Goose Pond Forest:

Dear good people of Chatham, please don’t bulldoze down our home. The Goose Pond Forest is all that we have left, and we have no other options, but you do. We are already having a tough time visiting our relatives and friends in adjoining neighborhoods without being mauled by the cats, chased by the dogs, or whacked by your cars.

You can vote at your next town meeting, but we can’t, so will you please vote for us to save our home. Signed by the Deer, Racoons, Turkeys, Frogs, Toads, Opossums, Coyotes, Squirrels, all the Hawks and Owls, some of the Songbirds (we’re sure the rest are in favor, but not all are back from their winter vacation yet), Chipmunks, Salamanders, Perches and Basses, Fishers, Skunks, Foxes, Eagles, Ospreys, Honeybees and their cousins the Bumblebees, Snakes, Muskrats, Otters, Rabbits, and ole Mr. and Mrs. Box Turtle, who have been living here for a hundred years without any worries until now.

When the forest is gone it’s gone forever. Please vote yes on article 63 to put all of the Middle Road/Goose Pond Forest into conservation.

Ted Lucas
