A History of Preservation

Goose Pond and the surrounding woodlands have been the subject of preservation efforts for decades.
Acres of land were donated by the Atwood Family. Acres of land were acquired by the Town for Conservation.
The DEP increased the regulations for areas contributing to groundwater. Goose Pond Forest is within the areas of contribution for several wells. The Town adopted zoning that increased the minimum lot size to 60,000 SF to protect the groundwater.
Now we are faced with undoing these efforts with the over-development of a piece of land that is better used protecting our groundwater.
